My  Work

The idea of making a chess set, first came to me in 1975, while working as a Flight Attendant for Trans World Airlines.  I was on a layover in Philadelphia and while out looking for a bookstore, I saw the most fascinating chess set displayed in its storefront.  What was most unusual about it was its size.  I soon realized that I could not afford to buy it and began to imagine making my own.  Without further ado, I immediately left the bookstore and went directly to an art supply store and bought ten pounds of clay.  And without a doubt, this was the first step of my life-long  journey into the making of COLE CHESS.

The piece is hand painted and adorned to represent its power, authority and wealth, warranted to its position on the chessboard.

They are elegantly embellished with crystals, faux pearls, gems, beadings, tassels and trimmings, making it a praiseworthy chess set.  No two chess sets will ever be exactly the same, making your set, even more personal.
